*** The mythology receded into the background and the process of needing to change the outer shell – to change mimicry, to constantly escape and to hide behind a new outerwear – seemed much more present. Masks, on the other hand, typically described in Karolína‘s work as an attribute of alienation and loss of individual identity, emerged as an attempt to find a universal language, no matter how different the being behind the smooth, Insta face. Masks as an attempt to communicate as directly and sympathetically as possible between seemingly estranged people.

Walking through the exhibition Blízkost v dálce / Proximity in the Distance very simply materializes the intimacy of the connection between the humans and the environment they co-create. With the option of being able to change the point of view, touch what has so far only been observed, walk around the object made of down jackets and enter the individual scenes of the paintings with her shadow, Karolína offers a completely new physical experience of communication.  (DK)***
