Paloma Mejia's work is sometimes referred to as "tiny sculptures" - small sculptures made to be worn on the body, like jewelry.

She first creates wax models, which she then casts in metal using the lost wax method. By working with her hands, the artist leaves her mark on each one - an ancient technique that makes the sculptures unique, because even if the model is repeated, it is impossible to make two exactly the same cast.

Thus, unique pieces made of solid metal, 18k gold or 925 silver, and there is only one original and eight numbered and signed copies of each.

From a practice to a studio

The inspiration for her work came primarily from the practice of her father, a country veterinarian, where she played as a child. "I think that from the countless specimens, flasks and microscopes, my imagination gradually expanded and I began to deal with existential questions, which would then guide all my future work. Then I grew up and the practice became my studio."

  • "WHEN MAKING A SCULPTURE, THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE ARTIST AND THE WORK IS VERY SENSUAL AND SENSITIVE, BUT WHEN EXHIBITING, THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE VIEWER AND THE WORK IS ONLY VISUAL, WHICH FOR ME LIMITS IT. THE WORK IS COMPLETE ONLY THROUGH INTERACTION WITH THE PERSON AND HAS NO END IN ITSELF AS AN ISOLATED OBJECT: IT IS COMPLETED BY MERGING WITH THE WEARER."
  • Welcome to my temple

    Welcome to my temple

Those who visit my workshop know that they are entering a sacred space of alchemy, ritual and creation. They are looking for unique, handmade objects. They want to know the behind-the-scenes of the creation of each piece, they want me to tell them a secret, and they want to take away an amulet that means something in their life. People love to get to know the makers and their craft, and I love getting to know those who choose my pieces.
