Martin Žák studoval na AVU v atelieru sochařství u Vojtěcha Míči. Ve své práci se znatelně odkazuje na tradici a klasické sochařství západní civilizace. To mu umožňuje jasná znalost anatomie a technologie. Jeho zpusob práce je ale intuitivní, někdy až hraničící s psychickým automatismem. Pracuje s osobními, mnohdy až éterickými náměty. Jeho díla (busty, drapérie, lyrické figury, fragmenty lidského těla) navozují atmosféru chrámového prostředí, přestože neusilují o nadpozemskou dokonalost, ale přiznávají reálné tvůrčí kroky. Od roku 2020 je členem SVU Mánes.

Martin Žák studied at AVU in the sculpture studio under Vojtěch Míč. In his work, he refers noticeably to the tradition and classical sculpture of Western civilization. This is made possible by his clear knowledge of anatomy and technology. However, his way of working is intuitive, sometimes bordering on psychological automatism. He works with personal, often almost ethereal themes. His works (busts, draperies, lyrical figures, fragments of the human body) evoke the atmosphere of a temple setting, although they do not aspire to unearthly perfection, but acknowledge real creative steps. Since 2020 he has been a member of SVU Mánes.
